In addition to saving time, increasing productivity, and eliminating boring tasks, text expanders help you cut down on the number of keys you hit in a day. I wish I had known about text snippets when I was still teaching. “Prime Minister” can become “,pm,” and “the White House” can be “(wh).” Do you speak at events? Perhaps your job has you responding to clients with roughly the same information all the time. ![]() How much of your work is taken up by mundane, repetitive tasks? Maybe it’s data entry. Maybe “(back)” makes more sense to you than “,btyb” for “I’ll get back to you.” It’s completely up to you. You are creating the system, so it’s easier to remember each shortcut. The best part is, you don’t have to learn a whole new system that doesn’t make sense to you. For example, you can tell a shortcut tool to change “ tsm” to “thanks so much.” Instead of typing, “I’ll get back to you by,” you can just type “,btyb.” You can set up your text expanders to be just a few symbols and letters, and the tool will automatically replace it with the longer phrase. Text snippets are small codes you create for phrases you use often. Typing these small phrases repeatedly adds up to hours of lost productivity time in a week. For instance, how often do you type, “thanks so much” or “per my last email?” Maybe you say “please let me know what you think” or “I’ll get back to you” several dozen times a day. Think about the words and phrases you use all the time when you type. Maybe what the people really want is a screwball comedy with Hardy mugging alongside a wise-cracking, homicidal alien goo suit. I don't know if this franchise will ever qualify as traditionally good no matter how successful it proves to be. What works in this movie is what worked for me in the previous film, but now all elements feel more in alignment with the goofy energy of star-producer-and-credited-"story by"-writer Hardy. The love story with Woody Harrelson (Zombieland) and Naomie Harris (Moonlight) made me think if someone combined Natural Born Killers with X-Men but short-changed us on both counts. The new villain is a scenery-chewing serial killing dullard and then transforms into a goop monster. Michelle Williams (Manchester by the Sea) is pitifully wasted as Eddie's ex-girlfriend. Regardless, if you were not a fan of Venom before, this movie won't convince you there's a compelling character or universe here. I can't really tell if everyone attached to the movie is trying hard or really just goofing off on the company's dime. It doesn't always keep that balance but it's sure entertaining to watch its goofball energy and it's only a merciful 90 minutes long (almost one half of Eternals). Under the guise of actor-turned-director Andy Serkis (Mowgli), the movie is simply a broad cartoon that manages to walk a line between good-bad and laughably bad. There are some comedic moments that just keep doubling down on silly jokes at the expense of everything else, like the "Not you, Father, you, father" bit that actually made me laugh out loud. ![]() The movie is almost sitcom-level in it's portrayal of the two butting heads and going their separate ways to prove they don't need the other only to learn they were really meant to be. This time we have a second alien symbiotic goo, which is actually what the villain of the first movie was, but this time it's red and extra trendril-y! The appeal for any viewer is going to be the bonkers buddy film at its core, Eddie Brock and his living id personified as the Venom alien that keeps asking to be allowed to eat people. I was not a fan of the 2018 predecessor but I found myself enjoying the goofier aspects of Tom Hardy's performance as journalist Eddie Brock after he shares his body with an alien symbiotic goo. This movie is ridiculous, and that will either be its major selling point of its point of condemnation. This is a silly, dumb movie that seems almost too aware of its existence as a silly, dumb movie it reminded me of what a Roger Corman movie might feel like as a modern-day superhero blockbuster. ![]() Whatever feelings you may have had for 2018's Venom, I imagine they will only be magnified with the sequel, Let There Be Carnage, where it appears that the filmmakers took the goofy, campy elements from the original and magnified them exponentially. ![]() ![]() The kitchen is led by Yoshiteru Maekawa who trained under Ikegawa in Tokyo for three years Ikegawa plans on making visits to the property twice a year. Once the cards have been dealt, players consult their cards to determine the number of tricks they are expecting to take throughout the game. The aim of Spades is to guess as accurately as possible the number of tricks you think you can win during play, and thus reach the set total of points over several rounds.Ĭards are shuffled thoroughly and the dealer is chosen at random, with all cards dealt face-down, one at a time, to the dealer’s left, until all cards have been distributed. Spades TerminologyĪs with many card and casino games, Spades seems to have a lingo all of its own which can be confusing for new players. Spades is generally played in small groups of four players, however with several variations of the game it can be played by as little as two players. What makes it different from other Whist game variants is that Spades are always trump (the suit of the highest value).
